Čuječnost je otroška radovednost
Categories: Ostalo
Neprestano se premikamo naprej, odpiramo nova vrata in počnemo stvari, ker smo radovedni, in radovednost nas vedno vodi po novih poteh.
(Walt Disney)
Čuječnost gojimo, kadar skušamo doživljati dogodke brez pričakovanj in prepričanj o tem, kaj o njih vemo. Raziskovanje sveta z otroško radovednostjo nam odpira poti do drugačnih pogledov in novih, nepričakovanih spoznanj.
Katera čustva so prisotna v meni v tem trenutku? O čem razmišljam? Kako je moje delovanje v vsakem trenutku povezano z zunanjimi okoliščinami?«
Naj vas iskrena radovednost vodi v raziskovanju različnih vidikov doživljanja v vsakem novem trenutku.
Mindfulness is childlike curiosity (beginner’s mind)
We keep moving forward, opening new doors, and doing new things, because we’re curious and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths.
(Walt Disney)
We cultivate mindfulness when we try to experience events without expectations and beliefs about what we know about them. In everyday life, our expectations often prevent us from seeing things as they are, and because of this we usually don’t notice the richness of the present moment. Exploring the world with childlike curiosity opens the way to different views and new, unexpected insights.
The curious eyes of a child
I like to walk alone on country paths, rice plants and wild grasses on both sides, putting each foot down on the earth in mindfulness, knowing that I walk on the wondrous earth. In such moments, existence is a miraculous and mysterious reality. People usually consider walking on water or in thin air a miracle. But I think the real miracle is not to walk either on water or in thin air, but to walk on earth. Every day we are engaged in a miracle which we don’t even recognize: a blue sky, white clouds, green leaves, the black, curious eyes of a child – our own two eyes. All is a miracle.
(Thich Nhat Hanh: The Miracle of Mindfulness)
Try it
Take some time for yourself and go for a walk, or engage in some other activity, something that you like to do. While implementing the selected activity focus as much as possible on what you are doing and what you are experiencing in that moment. Try not to think about the expectations that you had about this activity before you started it, even if it is something you do every day. When performing the selected activity, be curious like a child that is learning something new.
Ask yourself questions, such as: “What do I perceive through my senses in this moment – what do I see, hear, smell …? What physical sensations occur? What emotions are present in me in this moment? What am I thinking about? How is my functioning in each moment associated with the external circumstances?”
Let genuine curiosity lead you to explore various aspects of experiencing each new moment.
