Change the Narative – Start the Converstaion
Every year, around 700,000 people die by suicide worldwide. Each death affects both loved ones and the wider community – approximately 135 people are affected, leaving 95 million people bereaved each year. Despite these sad statistics, it is encouraging that we can prevent suicide and help to change the understanding of this important social issue.
In observance of World Suicide Prevention Day on the 10th of September 2024, we invite you to join us and participate in the Cycle Around the World campaign. This initiative by International Association for Suicide Prevention encourages participants from across the globe to collectively cycle 40,075 kilometres—the circumference of the Earth.
How to participate?
CHALLENGE: Help us reach 40,075 kilometres by cycling the circumference of the Earth together.
DATES: The campaign runs from 10th September 2024 (World Suicide Prevention Day) to 10th October 2024 (World Mental Health Day). However, you can start logging your kilometres earlier.
LOCATION: Ride anywhere—whether at home, on your commute, in nature, or on holiday. We’ll stay connected via social media.
WHO CAN PARTICIPATE: Adults, children, families, and organizations are all welcome. You can cycle solo, with family, friends, colleagues, or as part of a group.
COST: The participation is free of charge. All you need is a bicycle or stationary bike and a positive attitude.
REGISTRATION: No need to pre-register. After your ride, simply fill out the online form with your details and the number of kilometres cycled by clicking the button below. You can submit this form after each ride or sum up your kilometres and submit once at the end of the campaign.
At the end of the campaign, we will collect the total number of kilometres cycled and send it to the International Association for Suicide Prevention. They will then collect the information on the total number of kilometres cycled worldwide
